Optomap Retinal Imaging

The Optomap is a cutting-edge retinal imaging technology that allows eye care professionals to capture a wide, detailed, and instantly viewable digital scan of the retina without the need for pupil-dilating eye drops. This advanced laser imaging technique provides an ultra-widefield image of the back of the eye, where potential vision-threatening diseases can be detected, making it an essential tool in the early detection of cataracts, diabetic eye disease, glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, and more.

At Atlanta Eye Group, we pride ourselves on providing our patients with the highest possible standard of care, which is why we now require Optomap retinal scans for all patients during their annual comprehensive eye exams. In most cases, patients will not need to be dilated as frequently when the Optomap is performed. The cost of the screening is $39 and is typically not covered by insurance. The Optomap images will be reviewed with the patient by the doctor during their exam.
